Students at Calgary’s Mount Royal University are now able to seek out and analyze live and historical business data, thanks to the creation of a $500,000 analytics lab.
MRU announced today its new CN Supply Chain Analytics Lab provides students a space to work on a special data platform with access to the inner-workings of companies around the world in real time. “Data from this platform will show students how ethics, the environment and other factors combine with price to influence decision-making and the supply chain,” the university stated in a news release.
The lab includes 15 licences to the Refinitiv Eikon platform. The lab can accommodate up to 36 students, with groups of three students using each of 12 terminals.
The lab was financed with a $500,000 donation from CN, who said it reflects the importance of supply chain management to the transportation industry that helps drive the Canadian economy.

The Province of Alberta recently approved Mount Royal’s Bachelor of Business Administration, with a major in supply chain management along with a degree with a major in finance and a degree with a major in international business.
